  2. I have to say, when I saw the cute little journal, I thought, "I really like that red!" My moods change daily on this sort of thing, but as I rescanned your fine work I chose "Handbound Leather Journal . candy apple red . mother of pearl shell peg (320 pgs.)" partially because of the color, but I like the clasp too. All of them are beautiful and drool-worthy, however.

  3. I wish I had started journaling earlier in life! But, there is no time like the present to begin. Now that my precious grandchildren are such a large part of my daily existence, it's such a pleasure to record the fun memories I am making with them. This journal would be a beautiful addition to the photo family histories of scrapbooking. I like the large honey brown leather journal because it is something you could pass on to the next generation and it would stand the test of time. Imagine your great great grandchildren tenderly holding the volume that reveals your life long past to them. What a treasure!

  4. I hope you had a restful break. :) I love all of your journals, but I think my fav is the ''a book is like a garden carried in the pocket'' journal. That one is just gorgeous.

  5. Welcome back! I hope you had a restful holiday and I'm sure you'll be busy in 2010 (in the good sort of way). Since I'm half Chinese and tend to gravitate toward that side of my culture, I would have to say that your engraved Chinese Character Journal is my very fave. So many things I could think of to write in there. You'd have to save it for inspirational things rather than the mundane grocery lists and appointments :)

  7. I love all the work I have seen, but especially the Jane Austen.
Its beautiful. I think there would be nothing better then to be able to visit her back in the 1800's :)

This journal looks like something that she would have carried around with her to write down thoughts and ideas.

  9. The H.G. Wells journal catches my attention for a couple of reasons.

One, it has a bold "look at me" feel to it. And two, H.G. Wells was one of the first writers to write a time travel story, which is my favourite type of story to read and write.

A mini journal would be perfect to carry around and jot down the idea for a story when it struck me. So many times I'll get an idea for a story, but if I'm not at a computer to e-mail the idea to myself I quite often forget it. True, I could pick up one of those mass produced spiral notebooks, but have you ever tried to carry one of those in your pocket? And if you forget it's there and sit down? Ooooo, not pretty!

  12. I have wanted, no, I've longed to purchase one of your journals, and someday, I will! I admire your ability to turn this talent into a productive home based business.

I, too, spent most of my childhood literally up a tree with my nose in my book. I cherish my memories of my favorite hundred year old oak with the perfect niche I sat in to read the classics.

  13. My comment on my favorite item:

The light tan with the Pablo Neruda sonnet. I love Neruda, and I had a saddle just the color of the journal, lol.

  14. I adore the Treeless Coffee Paper with aqua mother of pearl shell peg journal. I think the mixture of dark coffee brown with the pale turquoise peg is so elegant and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the paper. Such an antique looking journal -- Gorgeous!

  15. Congrats on the grand re-opening!

I'm in love with the e. e. cummings book :) I love the textured sides and the tie sash. Gorgeous!

  16. Hi
My fav would have to be the distressed brown with the turquoise shell peg. The look on my daughter's face when she read the quotation from Robert Muncsh was priceless.

The turquoise color contrasting with the brown, makes it extremely pretty. Almost too nice to use!

  17. All your journals are beautiful. If I were pressed to pick one it would be the : i carry your heart with me . ee cummings . Handbound Leather Journal . cherry red - removable heart tag (320 pgs.) This is one of my favorite poems in one of my favorite colors.

Thank you for offering the giveaway and for including me.

  18. I'm inspired just looking through your shop, but my favourite journal is the Leo Tolstoy quote journal. My current, nearly-full journal has a Gertrude Stein quote in the front that I've drawn a lot of inspiration from over the past while but the Tolstoy quote is shaping up to be the very definition of my life in its current state.

  19. I love the chestnut brown journal with the Helen Keller quote:

"The most beautiful things in the world
cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart."

I worked at a school for the visually impaired for almost a decade and so Helen Keller's quotes always mean a lot to me. This one has always really touched my heart!

  20. All of your items are fabulous! My 1st favorite is the “Handbound Leather Journal . candy apple red . mother of pearl shell peg (320 pgs.)” That color is amazing. Mmm!

But then, I'm particularly in love with "Jane Austen . Pride and Prejudice . handbound leather journal . distressed tan (320 pgs)" I can see that delicious book becoming an indispensable aspect of my daily life. I love books, love words, love paper... love pouring my heart out, recording my delights and personal growth. A journal as fabulous as yours would go everywhere with me, forevermore!

  21. I absolutely love your journals! The Charlotte Bronte journal is my favorite, and she is my favorite author as well.

  22. Hello! All of your journals are beautiful and while I'm partial to Jane Austen, I think the chinese proverb journal is my favorite looks wise...a close second being any of the red leather journals. I love red!

  23. Hi there,

This is the first time I've seen your site. The Twice Remembered blog brought me here.

I love red and white....from the early days of dipping into a white and red polka dot candy dish growing up to now as I've discovered that my 75% Alsatian roots also yield a GREAT DEAL of red and white....your well-crafted journal is so good looking and a pleasure for my eyes. I'm really grateful to see such good workmanship.

The Charles Dickens book caught my eye-he's a favorite author and that particular book looks as if he could have carried it himself, noting parts of his story as the day went on.

I'll be back to your site/blog...love the workmanship.

    Sincerely,
    Becky

My favourite journal is still the Jane Eyre. It sits on a shelf in my house, displayed and waiting patiently to be filled up! It really is beautiful work, Bev. It would love a baby sister to keep it company! Lol!

  26. Your journals are all lovely, but I'm particularly taken with the William Blake journal. It's a combination of the rich look of the leather, the very clever clasp, the lovely photograph, and my appreciation for the poet.

The mini-journal is adorable -- and practical! I never leave the house with a small journal that I keep in my bag. This one would be both a treat to write in and to show off. Thanks so much for the giveaway.

  27. This is my first time 'in your shop!!' I love handbound books and am always scanning Etsy for unique handmade articles. Your 'Book of Memories" caught my eye as the leather is very rich looking and I love the dimensions. One could use this book in so many ways!
Thank you for the giveaway...it is a perfect size journal to take along with you everyday.

  28. My favorite item would have to be the e e cummings journal. He has always been a favorite poet of mine, but I find few others who love his work, so even just liking him makes me weird.... and the quote from his is perfect!

Plus I love the rustic leather look of the journal, and the fact that it has UNlined archival paper. I am a doodler and a would-be artist, so I prefer unlined white journals with inspiring handmade qualities. I love your work!

  29. What a great little contest. The journal is so adorable and perfect for tucking away and taking wherever you go! From your shop (so hard to pick just one!) I'm currently in love with the Charles Dickens inspired journal as I adore the quote but also love the leather you've used. I don't think there's anything quite as appealing as a good pen and a blank book...so full (or empty, hehe) of possibilities...words, thoughts...but what will be worthy of being captured for the future?

  30. Oh you are sooo talented! my favorite is the Chinese Proverb, "A book is like a garden carried in the pocket." How True! The beauties of a garden, the sence's, the color, the vivid beauty of it all, it can all be carried a read over and over again in the comfort of your sanctuary.
"You need not be outdoors to be able to understand beauty. The words that flow off the yellowed page and fill your engrosed mind is all you need to be able to paint a picture." -Yes, i wrote that. thank you, thank you. (I gotta admit, i kinda like that if i do say so myself) You are talented beyond words! (By the way, the little red journal is cute beyond words!!! I LUV IT!!!)

  31. First time in the shop. Really love all your journals! The Jane Austen is my favorite. Great gift for my daughter! Reading is her passion and her sentiments match Jane Austen's. The mini journal would be perfect to tuck away and have handy for jotting quick little thoughts throughout the day.
    Love your shop!

  32. I love the red journal! Pick me, Pick me! I also love the Charlotte Bronte journal. Mostly because of the cute flower clasp, but also because of the Charlotte Bronte quote. Love it, Love it.

  33. I have to say that, hard though it is to narrow down, my current favorite is your honey brown journal/sketch book. It is exquisite. I can't imagine any lovelier daydream than to wander around outdoors with that book and a box of pastels in hand.

  34. I absolutely love the Van Gogh journal you have your shop. Its amazing. Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists. Reading the biography of his life this last year has opened a door to my own creativity and inspired me to really push forward with my art. The Night Cafe is one of my favorite pieces of his as well. :) Beautiful work, Bev!!

  35. All your journals are special but I was drawn to your Book of Memories. I have a binder that contains my family's history- pictures, birth data, census info etc. I have journals going back to my teenage years and I continue to journal for me as well as my kids. I started journals for each of my sons since their birth. One is 18 and I am still journaling for and about him. I will probably stop when each reaches 21.I think it is important to document ones life. I am always writing down notes, thoughts or profound quotes so your little red give-away would come in handy.
